Be sure to check our troop uniform closet before buying anything new—Scouts grow fast, and we often have gently used uniforms available. We'll also share some of our favorite money-saving tips for purchasing any new uniform items you may need.

Absolutely! We encourage parents to stay, meet our leaders, and get to know the other Scout families. We'd love to share our experiences and the opportunities Scouting has provided our sons.

While you're welcome to simply drop your Scout off each week, we hope you'll choose to be part of the adventure. The years go by quickly, and Scouting offers countless opportunities to make memories together. Many of our adult leaders started exactly where you are today—and getting involved has been one of the best decisions they ever made.

Most Thursday nights you'll find us at VFW Post 9473—just look for the tank out front. Every once in a while we trade our meeting room for a service project or special adventure, so it's always a good idea to glance at our calendar or send us a quick email before your first visit.

Either way, we'll be happy to welcome you.

Don't worry—he won't be a stranger for long. We'll introduce him to Scouts his age and make sure he feels welcome from the moment he arrives. Many of our Scouts started out knowing no one, and years later they still call the friends they made here their best friends.

If he'd feel more comfortable, he's always welcome to bring a friend from school, church, the neighborhood, or another activity. There's always room for one more around the campfire.

Absolutely! You're welcome to visit as many meetings as you'd like before deciding if Troop 826 is the right fit for your family. In fact, we encourage you to visit other troops as well. Every troop has its own personality, traditions, and program, and we want you to find the one that's the best fit for your Scout.

We're proud of what Troop 826 has to offer, and we love hearing why families chose us—or why Scouts transferred here after experiencing another troop. We believe the right choice is an informed choice, and whether you join us or another troop, we're excited to see your Scouting journey begin.

The annual Scouting America registration fees include:

• $85 National Registration Fee

• $60 Simon Kenton Council Program Fee

• $25 One-time joining fee for first-time youth members

Military families with a parent serving on active duty, in the National Guard, or in the active Reserves have both the national and council fees waived, making it even easier to join.

Troop 826 dues are just $10 per month, and most weekend campouts ask Scouts to contribute about $20 to the Grubmaster to cover meals.

Some activities—such as summer camp, high-adventure trips, and special events—have additional costs. Fortunately, we offer many fundraising opportunities, and both the Simon Kenton Council and the Troop 826 Alumni Association provide scholarships and financial assistance.

Our goal is simple: every Scout who wants to participate should have the opportunity to do so. If cost is ever a concern, please reach out to us privately. We believe finances should never stand in the way of a young person experiencing Scouting.
