Boy Scout Troop 826 was chartered on August 26, 1996 by VFW Post 9473 with just 12 Scouts. Nearly 30 years later, we've grown into a thriving program that has served over 300 boys from Reynoldsburg and surrounding communities, helping over 75 young men achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.
Our troop was founded on the belief that "Scouting happens in the woods" - emphasizing outdoor adventure, hands-on learning, and real-world experiences that build character and confidence.
Troop 826 exists to develop young leaders through outdoor adventure, community service, and character building. We believe in the traditional Scouting approach where boys learn by doing, lead by example, and grow through challenge and achievement.
Our Core Values:
Boy-Led Leadership - Scouts plan, organize, and lead their own activities
Outdoor Adventure - Real skills learned in real environments
Community Service - Making a positive difference in Reynoldsburg
Character Development - Building integrity, responsibility, and citizenship
Our growth and retention of scouts is attributed to the quality program we provide focusing on outdoor living and high adventure.
We're not a meeting room troop. Our Scouts spend significant time outdoors developing real skills through camping, hiking, and adventure activities. Monthly campouts and annual high adventure expeditions are central to our program.
Our Scouts run their own troop. From planning meetings to organizing campouts, boys develop genuine leadership skills with adult guidance and support. This isn't just a concept - it's how we operate every week.
Our charter relationship with VFW Post 9473 provides more than just meeting space. It connects our Scouts with veterans who understand service, sacrifice, and commitment to community.
With over 75 Eagle Scouts from 300+ boys served, we have a strong history of helping Scouts reach their potential and achieve their goals.

We follow the time-tested methods of Scouting - patrol system, outdoor program, advancement through experience, and youth leadership development. Our program emphasizes:
Patrol System - Small groups where Scouts learn teamwork and leadership
Regular Schedule - We meet weekly and camp monthly all year, ensuring consistent skill development and outdoor experience
Outdoor Skills - Camping, hiking, cooking, navigation, and wilderness survival
Service Projects - Regular community service including our annual Memorial Day flag placement
High Adventure - Annual expeditions where Scouts backpack through the mountains of New Mexico at Philmont Scout Ranch, snorkel and fish while sailing through the Florida Keys toward Key West at Florida Sea Base, traverse the many lakes between Minnesota and Canada by canoe at Northern Tier, or challenge themselves at The Summit
Every Thursday evening, our Scouts gather for boy-led meetings focused on skill development, trip planning, and fun activities that build patrol spirit and troop unity.
