Community Service Projects
Each year, Troop 826 has multiple Community Service projects for our Scouts.
Memorial Day Flag Tribute
Every Memorial Day, Troop 826 honors our nation's fallen heroes by planting over 4,000 American flags at Glen Rest Cemetery in Reynoldsburg. This solemn and meaningful service project brings our entire troop together to create a powerful visual tribute that honors the sacrifice of those who gave their lives for our freedom. Scouts work systematically across the cemetery grounds, carefully placing flags at each gravesite while learning about the importance of remembrance, patriotism, and service to country. This annual tradition not only serves our community but also provides Scouts with a profound understanding of the cost of freedom and the importance of honoring those who served. The project typically takes several hours and offers significant service hours while creating a moving display that touches the hearts of cemetery visitors and families throughout the Memorial Day weekend.
VFW Breakfast
On the 5th Saturday throughout the year, Troop 826 partners with VFW Post 9473 to help prepare, serve, and clean up their community breakfast that's open to the public. This regular service opportunity allows Scouts to gain valuable experience in food service, teamwork, and community engagement while supporting our chartered organization. Scouts can earn up to 5 service hours per Saturday, making this an excellent way to fulfill rank advancement requirements while giving back to the Reynoldsburg community.
Heart Food Pantry Volunteer Service
Scouts volunteer at the Heart Food Pantry on a quarterly basis to support their mission of "Nourish Neighbors to Flourish." Located in Reynoldsburg, HEART serves over 17,000 people annually through their food pantry operations. Our scouts assist with stocking shelves, cleaning, and light maintenance tasks while making a meaningful impact in our local community.
Civic Park Cleanup
Three to four times a year, Troop 826 volunteers at Civic Park in Reynoldsburg to help maintain this beautiful community resource for all families to enjoy. Our Scouts work together to pick up trash along the park's trails and even in the creek areas, addressing the unfortunate reality of litter that accumulates in our natural spaces. This hands-on environmental service project teaches Scouts about conservation, community stewardship, and the importance of Leave No Trace principles while making a visible difference in our local Reynoldsburg community.
Eagle Service Projects
Throughout each year, Troop 826 Scouts work on their Eagle Service Projects, which represent the culmination of their Scouting journey and leadership development. These projects require each Eagle candidate to plan, lead, and manage a service project that benefits their community or a religious institution. Fellow Scouts are strongly encouraged to volunteer and support these Eagle projects, gaining valuable experience while helping their troop mates achieve Scouting's highest rank and making a lasting positive impact in the Reynoldsburg community.
